Sadly, I do not enjoy blogging. I enjoy looking at the rest of your blogs but as for me, a simple facebook status update and album upload is all I feel compelled to do. However, I was listening to the Mormon Channel (radio.lds.org) last week and there was a segment on "Mommy Bloggers." They talked about how in the LDS church it is a commandment to keep a record of our lives. So, I decided I should try to fulfill this commandment by blogging, you can back up your blog for like $10 a year, or you could print it and put it in a book! At least that's what the Mommy Bloggers said, I haven't really looked into it... Anyway, I'm not exactly the scrap booking/book of remembrance-keeping kind, so blog it is! How hard could it be?
So here's a brief rundown of the things that have occurred since my last post:
JUNE: My sister Kristen came to town, her and Kim threw me a baby shower!
My mom provided this delicious cake
Jenn and Kristen were pregnant at the time too!
And, Kim made the best chicken salad sandwiches EVER!! Since basically everyone from my baby shower has asked for the recipe, I will provide it here:
- canned chicken
- mayo (real, none of that low-fat nonsense)
- ranch seasoning (1/2-3/4 packet)
- pepper
- green onion
No measurements necessary, just season to taste, YUMMY!
JULY- Baby Eli was born on July 8, 2010!
I had my 38 week check-up on July 7th at 4 o'clock, no signs indicating labor anytime soon, so I went ahead and scheduled my induction for July 19th. While heading home slightly discouraged, we discussed what to eat for dinner that night. We had heard from a number of sources that eggplant parmagian induces labor, we didn't have any eggplant, but we decided to give chicken parmagian a try... Eli was born 5 hours later :) ---what happened in between, goes a little more like this :(
6 pounds, 6.4 ounces, 18 inches
He didn't really look like us at first, in that we're Caucasian and he appeared to be more of an, ummmm... Asian/Pacific-Islander descent, perhaps?
Jason LOVES his little boy!
Trying to figure out how to burp him... it took some practice!
Happy family
Finally home!
At 1 week old, my friend Kim took newborn pictures of him:
Thanks Kim!

Some pictures from Eli's first month (as with most mothers, I can never take enough pictures!):
At my mom's house the day after we left the hospital
2 weeks old
My mom and Ty were the first ones at the hospital when Eli was born, but I was too out of it to take a picture of them holding him (it was 1 in the morning, not to mention I had just given birth!), so this is Eli and his uncle taken just a couple weeks after it should have been
Nona showing Eli his first tennis racquet- Eli's Grandpa Rick and Uncle Tyler are tennis instructors so they already got him a racquet and are counting down the days until he's old enough to use it!
We went to visit Great Grandma Lael in Colorado Springs so that she could meet Eli for the first time, she LOVED him!
AUGUST: We missed the Glover family reunion this year because I was pregnant but fortunately, we got to have a mini-reunion when everyone came to town for John and Christie's wedding (Christie's mom and Jason's dad are twins). Plus, Eli got to meet his Grandma and Grandpa Glover and Uncle Cory for the first time! It was a CRAZY weekend, Christie and John had a family barbecue on Friday, wedding Saturday morning, wedding luncheon with family on Saturday afternoon, wedding reception Saturday night and, while everyone was still in town, we decided to bless Eli on Sunday morning, followed by a family luncheon in honor of the newborn stud on Sunday afternoon! Wow, that was a lot!
Grabdpa Glover and Uncle Cory
Grandma and Grandpa Glover with all the GREAT grandchildren and their moms (minus Erin and Kherington who are in Belgium, I included them anyway- Erin I stole this picture from your blog)
Christie, the beautiful bride
Chrisite and John
All the moms and great grandchildren again
Jason's wonderful family and all the Preisthood holders who stood in the circle
Wearing the same blessing outfit as his Uncle Cory
4 generations of Glovers and 3 generations of Davids
The Wheelers came too!
Grandma Glover bought Eli a cake (Dairy Queen decided to add an 's' to blessings), he didn't get to eat any of it but everyone else polished it off just fine without his help!
All that in 48 hours!!! The Bride's parents, Grandpa Glover... and me shortly after. Could you blame us?!?!
SEPTEMBER: Jason applied to this Springboard program through his work and was accepted, which means he got to go to Australia and participate in a little Bovis Lend Lease sponsored community service.
Needless to say, when the week came to an end, Jason stuck around for a few more days to check out the sights, including scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef!
I was not exactly looking forward to sitting on my bum for 2 weeks while Jason went to Australia, but we couldn't exactly afford the extra $2-3,000 it would have cost for me to go with him. Thankfully, I have the most wonderful in-laws in the entire world who flew Eli and me to Myrtle Beach to visit them While Jason was gone! While I've been on a few vacations the past year, this was the first of which I was not pregnant and, quite frankly, it was amazing!
I made sure to put SPF 70 on him!
I've married into a family who loves Diet Coke as much as I do and it's a very bad thing!
Eli's first Friday Night Lights! We went to Cory's high school football game, his singing group sang the National Anthem.
He loved digging his little toes into the sand!
Also, Eli had his 2 month check-up! At a whopping 8.14 pounds, 20 inches, he was off the charts in growth! And by off the charts, I mean not quite on the chart :( The doctor declared him "petite." How masculine, I thought, perhaps he would excel at gymnastics?! Well, considering Jason is 5'6 and I'm 5'4, I'm guessing that might just be the story of his life! When he was born everyone said "he won't stay that little for long..." Well surprisingly, he has! It's okay though as long as he's healthy and growing well, which, relatively speaking, he is!
Around 2 months old, Eli's vision really came in, he became so alert, always looking around and taking everything in, also, he started sleeping through the night!
OCTOBER: Well, we've done a bit of hiking and that's about it! We went up to Aspen for the weekend and we went to the most photographed mountains in the US (they are even on the King Soopers Card), Maroon Bells! It was beautiful! We also went to the Hot Air Balloon Festival.
Last weekend we went with the Wheelers' and the Martins' up to Devil's Head, Marc's dad was also in town because it was Lilly's 1st birthday!
Alivia and her baby sister Lilly, although I guess she's not a baby anymore!
That's all for now!
