The past month has been a whirlwind!! I feel like we've been so busy trying to get settled into the new apartment and get stuff ready for the baby that I forget we went on vacation! The whole point of going to California was to get one last trip in before the baby comes. Despite soon being parents, we are still newlyweds! So we requested off work, went on Southwest and looked for deals they were offering to whatever destination appealed to us... We decided on Los Angeles because Jason's Aunt Fannie lives in Long Beach and would let us stay with her. It was a great trip! The weather was beautiful, we went to Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, etc (there were a lot of beaches). Walked around, looked at shops, ate A LOT of food, went to a play with Aunt Fannie, had dinner with some of Jason's distant relatives, lounged around outside and read, walked around Hollywood, went to the LA Temple (which by the way is MASSIVE... really, words and pictures can't describe, it is huge!) AND went to Disneyland!! It was a very nice getaway.

My Golden Birthday!!
I realize my birthday was March 24th and it is now 2 months after the fact but I just have to do a quick blurb because I've been meaning to and it was the BEST birthday EVER! First of all, I had requested half the day off work because I was going to the doctor to find out the sex of the baby, BUT, like a gift from heaven, it snowed so much that work closed and I got the whole day off plus a whole day of pay! Also, because it was my golden birthday (I turned 24 on the 24th), Jason decided to get me 24 presents, the first of which was my favorite I-HOP omelet and pancakes in bed! Then he gave me 24 chocolate coins to "buy" the rest of my presents as I wanted them throughout the day. As you can tell from the picture above, some of them were silly, like the giant bottle of Cholula! It was a fun way to keep the excitement coming all day long. That afternoon we went to the doctor to find out we're having a boy, and then for dinner we went to the best restaurant ever... Benihana! All in all, I had a great day!

I've Not Quite Gotten the Hang of "Blogging"
It's been quite some time since I've updated our blog, but we've been VERY busy! We moved into a new apartment last month and also went on vacation to California! However, a recent development in the pregnancy has left me with A LOT of time on my hands.
The past few weeks I have been having very strong contractions which, I thought were Braxton Hicks, but after several ultrasounds and other tests, apparently the baby is trying to make his debut a little bit (9 weeks) early! As a result, I have been instructed not to work more than 4 hours a day (sitting only--which is difficult considering my entire job is walking), otherwise, I should be at home on the couch or in bed. Two days in, I'm finding this very difficult... And Jason is VERY strict! On the bright side, this new development has made us realize that we've barely done anything to prepare for the baby's arrival!
Nine months seems like all the time in the world until all of a sudden, it's almost here! My doctor asked me if I had registered at the hospital yet or gotten a pediatrician... Ummmm, nobody told me to do that! I can't believe that when I have this baby, they just let us take him home!!! Don't they know we're not qualified?!?! Anyway, we finally started to "get in gear," so to speak. I registered at not one but TWO hospitals (in case I can't make it all the way to SkyRidge, I will go to Swedish instead, since it's closer). Go me! We (and by we I mean my mom) got a car seat, a stroller (thanks again not to us, but to Ryan, Erin and the Glover in-laws) and a pack in play... no crib, bedding, swinging/bouncy/music-playing seat, a single article of clothing or pediatrician yet, but it's a start. Hopefully, bed rest won't last too long so that I can actually get everything else we need too... preferably BEFORE the baby comes.
